Between the main story missions, faction missions, races, new weapon and vehicle unlocks, and the joy of exploring the island you’ll wonder where the time went. Just Cause 2 packs thirty to forty hours of adventure for even moderate completionists. The combinations are nearly endless and you will spend hours simply playing around. You can then use the grappling hook to stand on the plane, hijack it, and use the car dangling from its bottom as a wrecking ball. You can connect an enemy to a passing car, connect a passing car to the road, or connect a car to a low flying plane. Using Just Cause 2’s grappling hook for movement is only the beginning of the fun as it can be fired twice (double hooking) to connect two objects. Nothing is out of reach after a little practice. When combined with the parachute it allows the character to fly to almost any location in the game. The grappling hook is used to move the character around the map quickly. This simple device elevates the game out of the realm of ordinary third person action title and into a genre of its own. The second most notable feature of Just Cause 2 is the grappling hook. If you can see it you can travel there by foot, stolen car, hijacked plane, or hotwired boat. There are no cloud obscured distances or invisible walls in Just Cause 2. The game takes place on an island nation, and somehow the entire nation is visible at once from all high vantage points in the game. Where it stands out in the crowd is with its incredible draw distance. It’s doesn’t require a super computer to run, but it still looks nice. Graphically Just Cause 2 is on par with today’s higher ends games. Fortunately the rest of the game experience is so astounding that the flaws are easy to forgive or even forget. The problem can be easily overcome with third party technology, but the player can’t help wondering why it has to be overcome at all. For left handed gamers or players that prefer the arrow keys, this is a problem. Lastly the developers made a mistake that has been happening more and more frequently in PCs games: not all keys on the keyboard are assignable. However, the caliber of voice acting talent is right in line with its B grade action film plot. Just Cause 2 has some unbelievably terrible voice acting. Let’s get the bad parts out of the way so we can concentrate on the rest of the review. Just Cause 2 is every action gamers’ dream come true. It only took me two minutes of game play to understand the extent of the grand experience that was laid out before me. It came highly recommended by friends, it was on sale, and it promised some third person action that was enough for me. Still sucks that there's no yaw controls tho.ĩ0% PCHaving never played (or honestly heard of) the first installment of the Just Cause series I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Just Cause 2. This is a classic that has aged like a fine wine. I expect to update this as i go for the "completionist" 75% cheevo. Ended with 29.22%, I did a small amount of side content to just get to Merc Mode faster THIS IS AN AMAZING PICK-UP AND PLAY, CHILL GAME TO PODCAST/BANG MUSIC TO. Lightning in a bottle this is, as none of the others ever did it like JC2 does. If it's on sale below 15$, which is already cheap, you can get disgusting value out of this. Variety of biomes that still look great 10 years later (full of explosions). Shitloads of cars to drive (and explode). But, it makes up for that with a fucking shitton of stuff to blow up. The open-world is-by modern standards and contemporary-fairly uninteresting in terms of depth and nuance. The gameplay loop is simple yet hella addictive. You can expect absurd amounts of ultraviolence that gets better as you git gud. With how cheap you can get it these days, the content is thiccccc. Even in 2010: this is a collectathon, open-world action ACTION ACTIONNNNN game that everyone should play once. 90% PCAside from minor quirks (no yaw controls, really?), acute bugs (99.97!!!) and universally wasted plot threads this is a game from another era.
